UCI Emergency Medicine Student Symposium - February 7, 2009

Below is information on an upcoming EM conference in California in case anybody is interested.

===============

The UCI Emergency Medicine Student Symposium is coming up on February 7th, 2009. This years focus is Subspecialties in Emergency Medicine.

This symposium will be held in Orange, CA and will be an exciting day consisting of lectures about emergency medicine in general as well as some of the subspecialty opportunities, followed by hands-on workshops about a variety of the EM subspecialties. There will also be an opportunity to present research in the mini-oral session.

Why should I go?
The UCI Emergency Medicine Student Run Symposium will help you learn more about the field and allow you to network with EM physicians. This year's topic is subspecialties which will provide a lot of new ideas of things you can do as an emergency medicine physician (including some things you may have never thought of). Also, for students from other schools or out of state, if you are interested in possibly doing a rotation at UCI, or applying to residency here, one of the workshops is a tour of our brand new hospital (opening in Nov 2008) and you can get a great feel for the environment at UCI Medical Center.

Where is the symposium?
At the Doubletree Hotel in Orange. Very safe location, only 15 minutes from the airport (John Wayne Airport, Orange County) and we will have a block of rooms reserved for out-of-towners. Registration forms and rates will be coming soon. http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/SNACCDT-Doubletree-Hotel-Anaheim-Orange-County-California/index.do

Will there be an opportunity to present research?
Yes! We will have mini-oral presentations for research. Applications will be sent out later this month for submission. Last year over 100 people attended the UCI Emergency Medicine Student Run Symposium and we hope to grow a lot this year. It's a excellent chance to present your research.
